About this project
Ashgabat International airport has had a major transformation into a state-of-the-art airport to respond to the rapidly growing domestic and international passenger traffic in Turkmenistan.
The design of the new terminal building was inspired by the national symbols of Turkmenistan and can host 14 million passengers a year to IATA Class A service standards with a total enclosed area of 161,851 m².
NACO was commissioned by a contractor, Polimeks Insaat in Turkey, to develop the basic design for the Terminal Building and other buildings, detailed design for the airfield infrastructure and tender specifications for special equipment as part of a design and build contract.
During the design process, NACO took the advisory role on design options and made recommendations for improvement and value engineering with 3D-modellingsoftware.
The design of the Airfield fully complies with the ICAO standards (2014-2015) and was approved by Ministry of Construction and Architecture.
